The Issue

Commercial travel agency hotel commission income only represents between 5% to 7% of recorded hotel sales. Contributing to this diminished yield is the fact that a significant percentage of legitimate hotel commissions are either contested or simply not paid to the agency. Identification, posting, reconciliation, and recovery of hotel commissions incur significant human, material, and technical costs.

Some agencies feel that the cost to reconcile hotel revenue and pursue unpaid hotel commissions exceeds the potential revenue gain, and therefore they take no action to resolve or bill for unpaid bookings.  We can provide a simple recovery process for these agencies.

Most agencies, however, determine that it is important to try to financially resolve hotel bookings, and implement either an internal billing effort, or hire a primary reconciliation firm like Pegasus to accomplish the reconciliation.  While very effective, these efforts generally cease after 90 to 180 days from the travel date. Most of our customers fall into this category.
